Visual Art Show, Ramsey, Dr. Matthew Murphy, Superintendent

The Ramsey Public Schools district-wide Visual Arts Show and Ramsey High School Profile Project Exhibitions will take place on Tuesday, May 7th and Wednesday May 8th from 6:30 to 8:00 PM both nights Select artworks from students in all five schools in the district will be on display in the Mitchell Gym at Ramsey High School. In addition, works will be featured of seniors at Ramsey High School who plans on majoring in art.

In conjunction with the Art Show, students from Ramsey High School’s Art Club have created beautiful ceramic dishes that will be on sale during the show. Dishes range from $5-$20 and all proceeds will be donated to Action Against Hunger, an international humanitarian group dedicated to addressing areas of severe malnutrition. The dishes created by the students were inspired by the Empty Bowls Project, which is an international grassroots effort to raise both money and awareness in the fight to end hunger. The project allows the students to use their artistic skills and creativity to help others through a social justice campaign.

At the same time as the Art Show, students who have engaged in “Senior Profile Projects” will be presenting the results of their experiences as part of an expo in the hallways and classrooms adjacent to the Art Show. Profile Projects are part of the redesign effort at Ramsey High School which will give all students the chance to pursue authentic, interest-based work and perform on the “big stage.” Students who pursued “Profile Projects” will share results and reflections on their experiences and what they have learned from them as they prepare for life after Ramsey High School. In addition, selected students from upper-level courses in the Visual Art and Technology Departments will be on hand to display some of their work.RamseyVisualArtShow2019.jpg
