I am filled with Ramsey pride! Our High School teacher Daniel Willever received the prestigious Milken Educator Award, aka the “Oscar of Teaching.” We surprised him at an assembly Friday, where he learned of this amazing honor and the accompanying $25,000 prize. Excitement, support and enthusiasm flowed from staff and students, who clearly agreed with the selection committee’s choice!
Only 40 winners were honored throughout the nation, and Mr. Willever was the only one from New Jersey. For more than 30 years, Milken Educator Awards have applauded teachers, acknowledging the research that shows teacher quality is the driving, in-school factor behind student growth and achievement. We are so proud to count Mr. Willever as one of the dedicated staff members that make up our high achieving school district.
Mr. Willever helped shape the Profile of a Ramsey Graduate initiative by seeking to shift instructional practices, learning structures, and graduation requirements. Whether or not your student has had the pleasure of being in Mr. Willever’s class, you will enjoy reading more about the ways he engages and motivates with energy, creativity and innovation.
