A PEEK INTO THE ARTISTIC EXPERIENCE OF 2020-2021
Normally, the end of each school year is the time when we celebrate the arts with the district’s annual Visual Arts Show. However, health and safety precautions do not allow us to get together this year to view all of our students’ beautiful artwork. This does not mean, though, that the Visual Arts have not continued to be an important part of our students’ lives. Perhaps this year more than ever, the visual arts have provided our students with a chance to create, express themselves, and find a small piece of “normal” in an otherwise upside down year.
In the 2020/2021 school year, being in the “art room” took on a whole new meaning. Sometimes that meant being in school. Sometimes it meant being on a Google Meet. Sometimes the art room was a room in a student’s house. And sometimes the “art room” may have been outside. Through this experience, students have learned that art making and inspiration can come in infinite ways, and that by creating art, they can develop a better understanding of their world.
In the pages that follow, you will have a chance to peek into our art rooms and see samples of what students have created. We wish you the the best of health and hope to see you back in person in 2022!
